Creation
Faces Modeling Troupe was founded by Reginald B. Harrison and Akil Hameed in the Spring of 1997. Both young men were looking for a new venue to better foster their up and coming modeling talents. Unsatisfied with Epicurean! Fashion Experience, they sought out to create a modeling troupe that not only pursued real modeling, but also took pride in maintaining a diverse family atmosphere. ![]() |
![]() Faces Modeling Troupe Inc. was established on the campus of Florida A&M University. The founders of Faces were inspired by what they considered to be the true elements of modeling: creativity, precision, diversity and most of all originality. Their mission began with a vision to take modeling to a higher level, through photography, innovative fashion, unique mechanics, and community service. The main purpose of Faces modeling Troupe is to expand the knowledge of culture and diversity across the fashion community. Fashion can be explained in so many languages and style, therefore where we come in, to educate how culture and diversity makes up fashion. Throughout our years of existence, we have grown and flourished to become, the first international and influential modeling troupe in the City of Tallahassee; but with chapters in Tallahassee, Gainesville, Orlando, Miami, Tampa, Daytona & Jacksonville – we are the largest and most dynamic modeling troupe on the East Coast of the United States!!
Faces Prides itself of
respect, individuality, family unity, dedication and most of all aiming
for academic merit. Faces Modeling Troupe continuously strives for
excellence in all aspects of modeling by holding true to our motto,
“Everyday is a Runway!!” |
Evolution
In the summer of ’02, Akil DuPont (Former Treasurer)
and Terrance Knighton (Former President) realized the benefits of incorporating
the organization and, after discussion with the e-board, began taking the
appropriate steps to accomplish this goal. The paperwork was complete, and on
May 15, 2002 Faces Modeling Troupe, Inc. was made official. Becoming incorporated was only a small step into converting Faces into a nation-wide organization. With this, Faces can form chapters across the state, and eventually across the country! Previously, the Tallahassee chapter served as a template for our future expansions. But in the here and now, all chapters of Faces and the Global Executive Board must ensure that the Faces legacy of innovation, creativity, and always striving for perfection in modeling, will carry on to our extended family. |
